SOSU offers two main degree programs: The Professional Pilot Option and the Aviation Management Option. Both degree programs consist of between 56 and 60 credit hours of course work. The remaining 64 to 68 credit hours (totaling 124 credits needed for a degree) consist of General Education requirements and electives.

The Professional Pilot Option is designed for those who wish to fly professionally for a commuter carrier, airline or corporate aviation department.

The Aviation Management Option is further divided into four options:

The Business Option is designed for those who want a business background but one that is focused on the specific needs of the aviation industry.

The Maintenance Management Option is for those who want to manage aviation maintenance operations.

The Safety Option is for those who want a business background but focused on the specific area of safety in the aerospace workplace.

The Security Option is for those who want a business background but focused on the quickly evolving area of security in the aerospace field.

The Aviation Sciences Institute also offers an Aviation Minor.
